Designer
As a Designer at Riverside Energy, you are involved throughout a complete project lifecycle. Beginning with preliminary designs for customer acceptance, through documenting “For Record” details for every installed project. You will work closely with the Design and Engineering (DAN) Manager, Sales, and Operations Teams to ensure all designs are compliant with Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) and utility requirements.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Design Creation:
- Create preliminary designs for customer acceptance.
- Develop detailed designs for installation teams for simple projects, such as grid-connected residential projects.
- Compliance:
- Ensure all designs comply with AHJ requirements.
- Ensure all designs comply with utility requirements.
- Equipment Integration:
- Be familiar with all equipment offerings of Riverside Energy.
- Properly integrate modules and inverters of various types.
- Documentation:
- Create solar module layouts for all projects.
- Generate project cost estimates and firm quotes based on required materials.
- Estimate and record solar PV projected harvests.
- Complete electrical CAD drawings.
- Clearly document the scope of work, inclusions, and exclusions for each project.
- Generate contracts and proposals for all work Riverside performs, inclusive of installations, service work, and consultations.
- Provide manuals and “how-to” guides for installation teams.

What We Expect from You
- Technical Expertise: Basic knowledge of solar design and engineering principles, as well as relevant software and tools.
- Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational skills to manage files, folders, and documents efficiently.

Required Qualifications
- Basic electrical background and familiarity with Ohm's Law.
- Knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- AutoCAD (or alternative) experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with 3D modelling software is an asset
- Formal Training as an Electrical, Mechanical or Structural engineer is an asset
- Experience with the BC Building Code is an asset
- Ability to register with EGBC as an EIT or P.Eng is an asset
Working Conditions
- Location: Based at our office in Kamloops. Hybrid roles will be considered
- Hours of Work: Typically Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.
- Compensation: $22 - $30 an hour.
